ACOS6 SAM is designed as a general cryptographic computing module or as a security authentication module
It also supports DESFire, Ultralight-C, and Mifare Plus contactless cards.
It securely stores cryptographic keys and uses them to calculate cryptograms for other applications or smart cards.
In this way, terminals do not need to know the master keys of an application, as the keys never leave the smart card.
The ACOS6 SAM card provides the following capabilities
- Mutual authentication to ensure the authenticity of the terminal and the customer card
- Secure messaging to ensure that data transmission between the card and the terminal/server is protected and not susceptible to interception.
- MAC calculation to authenticate and ensure the integrity of data and commands transferred to and from the card
- Key diversification to enable diversified key entry without exposing the master key
- The insertion of the key from SAM to client cards for contactless cards with encryption protection and message authentication code.
